Kuching will make history as the first city in Asia to host the 9th World Para Swimming Championships from July 29 to Aug 4 at Pandelela Rinong Aquatics Centre. The sporting event expected to attract 600 athletes and 400 officials from 70 countries.
The Championship will also serve as a qualifying event for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
The event is being held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, named after Sarawak’s diving queen, a two-time Olympic medalist with four World Championship medals. She became the first ever Malaysian female athlete to win an Olympic medal.
