Tenun Week will be showcasing 6 different cultures in Sarawak: Iban, Melayu, Melanau, Foochow, Orang Ulu and Bidayuh. Be immersed and involved in the many activities that have been planned for the whole week.
So here’s a little glimpse of the many activities that will be happening.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦: Traditional performances and ceremonies, 2019 Tuak Showdown showcase, experience the fusion of modern and traditional take with food and drinks.
𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗘: Family-friendly folklore storytelling, photo-taking opportunity with traditional costumes while showcasing a range of food delicacies of all the 6 cultures.
𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦: FREE and easy public talks and workshops with topics ranging from social media, marketing, brewing to photography.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧: Over 50 booths of vendors showcasing the talents and skills of our homegrown artists and small businesses ranging from pottery to stationaries to tattoo.
𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗞𝗘: PAID and smaller workshop classes covering topics from tuak making to basket weaving to learning the Kenyah traditional dance.
During this week, they aim to break the chains of what they see as a dilution of our cultures. TENUN aims to cultivate a cohesive effort in protecting and passing down our culture for future generation.
