2013 marked Sarawak Tourism Board’s first year at the awards and its first year to be shortlisted. Sarawak Tourism Board stood alongside other leading destinations including Brand USA, Tourism Australia and Barbados Tourism Authority. Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing was named the winner on the evening.

TTG’s editor and Brand Director Daniel Pearce presented STB Regional Marketing Manager, Maurice Balang, with a certificate to recognise Sarawak’s huge achievement making the shortlist. Following the presentation Maurice remarked on the success; “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in these awards, the UK is one of our biggest tourism markets and over the past year we have increased our engagement with the trade; a strategic decision that has now been rewarded. However, we must not let momentum slip and will continue in our efforts to champion Sarawak.”

The evening was held in the heart of the city at the Odean in Leceister Square followed by a glittering after party at The Savoy Hotel. This year’s theme was Vintage Chic and the night is being heralded as one of the best annual events in the travel industry.
