Taipei Agents Experiencing Local Hospitality

KUCHING, Monday – Nine Taipei travel agents are currently in the city to experience for themselves Sarawak’s unique tourism products and hospitality.

Flown in by the Sarawak Tourism Board through familiarization trip programme, the group arrived on Saturday and will spend time to experience the city’s attractions and unique cultural diversity.

The visiting agents, led by Ms. Erica Wang from the Hong Kong Airlines branch office in Taipei, Taiwan, visited among others, the Sarawak Museum and the Chinese Museums, Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, the Bako National Park, Sarawak Cultural Village.

They also experienced the kayaking adventure in Padawan and also took the Sarawak river cruise at the same time, immersed in local delicacies at local eateries in and around the city.

Taiwan is one of the emerging markets for State’s tourism promotion and from January to June this year, saw an increase of 21.95% in arrivals compared to last year.

With the support by the Hong Kong Airlines, local travel agent, Starwing Holidays Sdn Bhd Kuching, the  Sarawak Cultural Village and  Kuching Hilton this trip has been a success as it is  their educational journey to Sarawak’s many and varied attractions.

“With consistent promotional effort and focus marketing direction in Taiwan, we hope to be able to gain positive growth in arrival for Taiwan market.”  said Benedict Jimbau, STB’s Director of Marketing.

The visitors will leave Kuching for Taipei on September 7.
